Getting To Know Your Lake Neighbors

Introducing: Middle Lake Restaurant and Bar!

Looking for a place to sit back, relax, and enjoy a delicious meal? The Middle Lake bar and restaurant is the place to go!

This community favourite is located on the east end of Centre Street in Middle Lake. The building was constructed in the early 1930s by Otto Johnson and ran by Carl Person for the first few years of operation. The business has passed through many hands and endured many renovations throughout the years. Past owners include Albert Kish, Johnny Hackl, Pete Bacala, Jerry Rosenberger, Leo Demers and many others.

Today, the Middle Lake bar and restaurant is newly owned and operated by Prairie’s Edge lot owners Francis and Nicole Bacik. They took ownership in 2016 and immediately began on renovations to the bar portion of the building. The renovations look fantastic adding character to the Middle Lake community.

With the business thriving, Francis and Nicole have now been working on recent renovations to the restaurant, to keep up with the prospering bar. The restaurant is expected to open this month with a special Mother’s Day Brunch. Prairie’s Edge recently sat down with Francis to talk about the Middle Lake community and the restaurant grand opening.

Interview with Francis Bacik:

Q: Did something other than the business attract you to the community of Middle Lake?

A: Our first attraction to the community was the new development on Lucien Lake (Prairies Edge Development). We then decided to move back to Saskatchewan because Middle Lake and the development were close to Nicole’s family farm where she grew up. We wanted to live in a rural community to raise our young family.

Q: Can you tell us a little something about the event happening this Sunday, May 14th?

A: We are hosting a Mother’s Day brunch buffet, along with the grand opening of our newly renovated restaurant, called Martha’s.

Q: What is on the menu for that Mother’s Day celebration?

A: We will be serving spiral glazed ham, perogies, dill carrots, coleslaw, pizza, a full breakfast, french toast, fruit, and dessert.

Q: Speaking of menu, what are three items that you would highly recommend on your menu?

A: From our customer’s feedback, the three items that we would recommend are:

  • The Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich
  • The Steak Entrée
  • Homemade burgers (Old MacDonald Burger and Boss Burger)

Q: What should people expect in regards to the new renovations in the restaurant?

A: It will be a complete transformation that feels cozy with a family friendly atmosphere.

Q: How has your experience been so far in the community running your business?

A: It has been a very positive experience. We have received a tremendous amount of support on our new venture and have met a lot of great people along the way.
